It has been four years since the passing of Fast and Furious actor Paul Walker, and today on what would have been his 44th birthday, he is celebrated and remembered by family and friends, including former co-star Freddie Prinze Jr., who choked up with emotion as he opened up on about duo’s relationship.Paul and Freddie, 41, first met during castings for the 1999 romantic comedy She’s All That and in a new interview, Freddie revealed he helped Paul snag the role. But as the Star Wars: Rebels actor opened up about the 90s film, which anniversary, his eyes began to water as he reminisced the golden days of his budding friendship with Paul.’When Paul came into audition, I didn’t have cast approval, but I had what they called consultation. I knew Paul was the right guy, and when he finished the audition, I asked if I could excuse myself to go to the bathroom,’ Freddie revealed in a video to US Weekly.Freddie then proceeded to chase after Paul to his car in the parking lot, convinced he was the man for the role.’I said, “Hey man, you’re gonna get this job,”‘ he confessed.’They didn’t pay us anything. It was a small movie. [I said], “They’re gonna offer you $25,000, they have $75 in the budget. Don’t say no,”‘ he said.Paul was taken aback but took the job that would set him on track for the famed Fast and Furious series, which he was filming the seventh installment for when he died of trauma after a terrifying car crash. What Freddie never knew was that his parking lot pep talk made all the difference for the young struggling actor.’I heard, years later, after he passed away, that he had told his brother and his mom that story. To hear that, that meant a lot to him to share that. I loved that there was still that connection there,’ Freddie shared as his eyes welled and he gave a nervous cough.’Excuse me for getting choked up, I don’t normally…’ Freddie said on his emotional break.’As an actor, you don’t want guys to suffer if they don’t have to. Right? You’re like, “Dude – you got the part!” He was a good dude,’ he shared. Also in the video interview Freddie continued on to explain that he was still close with the film’s protagonist Rachel Leigh Cook and was also good friends with Paul until his death, all these years later.Paul’s family members have taken to social media to commemorate the special day, including Paul’s daughter Meadow, 18, who was just 15 when her father died. While Freddie was choking on tears, Meadow shared an Instagram encouraging her followers to do good in remembrance of her father.’In honor of my dad’s birthday today, we’re challenging you to DO GOOD,’ she captioned a throwback photo. To observe the anniversary Paul’s Uncle Rhett and friend visited his Los Angeles memorial and each left a unique gift: a pack of Red Vines candy.Along with the sweets Paul’s relative left a note that read: ‘Miss you f***er! I remember it all!”Ask your self? W.W.P.W.4.D’ the note said on the outside, pinned neatly on top of the candy and alluding to the phrase, ‘What would Paul Walker do?’.
